8 Things I learned At The Harvard Of Art Schools
I went back to Art Center in 09 to figure out how Michael Bay & Zach Snyder (Watchmen) construct their shots so nicely – it’s more complex than it looks, by the way. Here is what else I learned:
1. Bow down to more talented classmates, establish relationships, Collaborate and learn.
2. Research in the weirdest of places.
3. Sketch and resketch ideas, thoughts etc. and PASTE THEM ALL OVER THE WALLS. Make things physical.
4. Learn from masters, mentors. ASK EVERYONE INCLUDING THE BEST. Be passionate.
5. Put out product, move on to the next. Get better with fresh pallettes.
6. Create design bibles, toss it all around, stir it up… put the stuff on the walls in a book.
7. Put the book next to your bed. Dream and keep the pen next to the bed and the book.
8. Set your sites BIG.
9. DO SHIT THAT WILL SELL. Art is only art if people see it.
10. Do stuff that will never sell, that is singularly guided by your passion… it will formulate itself into a commodity. You.
